Analysts: No signs of labor market weakness in this week's initial report

On March 27th, considering all the factors hitting the labor market - chief among them the federal government layoffs led by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) - it is surprising that the number of weekly jobless claims has remained so stable. In the past year, the number has never been higher than 260,000, nor lower than 205,000, and the data has been particularly stable over the past four weeks. Analysts at High Frequency Economics wrote: There is certainly no sign of a weakening labor market in today's report. (Jin Ten)
