A cryptocurrency lawyer is suing the US Department of Homeland Security, claiming it may know who the creator of bitcoin is - and demanding that it share what it knows. The Freedom of Information Act lawsuit, filed by James Murphy, is based on claims made by a special agent at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Rana Saoud, during an April 2019 meeting in which Ms. Saoud said that several of her colleagues had previously met with four people involved in creating Bitcoin. "My Freedom of Information Act lawsuit seeks only notes, emails and other documents related to that alleged meeting," Mr. Murphy said in a post on the X platform after he announced the lawsuit on April 7. "If that meeting actually took place, as Homeland Security agents claim, there should be documentation of what happened," Mr. Murphy added, using the X username "MetaLawMan."
